The Hangover Part 2 has just been released in America. The first one was shot in Vegas, but now Bangkok has them. People are now asking where the film was shot. Here is a map showing the movie location in Krabi, Southern Thailand:
The film opens in Krabi with the beautiful white beaches and limestone cliffs. This is in Southern Thailand. Most of the movie was shot at the exclusive resort Phulay Bay, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve. From their website: “Guests are in for a luxurious experience mingled with local culture and heritage. Occupying one of the most stunning spots in Krabi, the resort faces the Andaman Sea and is set against the backdrop of lush green mountains. The vast palm tree-fringed infinity pool seamlessly blends with the endless emerald sea beyond.”
The film then jumps to Bangkok. Many of the outdoor scenes were shot in Chinatown. However, the bars were shot at Soi Cowboy and Sukhumwit Soi 7/1. The spectacular views of Bangkok were shot from the top of Lebua at State Tower Hotel. A lot of the scenes that were inside, like in the dingy hotel room, GoGo bar and tattoo parlour, were most likely shot in a studio in the USA. There were also some scenes on a long-tailed boat on the Thonburi canals and a speedboat on the Chao Phraya River. We should point out that you CANNOT go from Bangkok to Krabi in a speedboat. It would take several days.
Some of the backdrops to the monastery were shot at Ancient City in Samut Prakan. However, it looked to me like most of the scenes with the monks were probably shot in the USA. Mainly because they used Tibetan monks. They wear different coloured robes compared to Thai monks. They also had eyebrows. Thai monks shave theirs off.

Please put on your website that a valid driving licence is needed when hiring a golf cart at ancient city.
Actually one scene was shot in Tilac Bar on Soi Cowboy. Apparently they shot after closing time and everyone in the scene were actors, even the bargirls (this according to a Tilac mammasan.)
