    Hi Richard,
    Do you know why monks are throwing colourful gift nodes to the people ? With my basic Thai, I could only understand that people could get money (1 or5 or 10 baht) in exchange. What is that all about ? Thanks

      It is symbolic for people ordaining as monks to throw coins into the crowd just before they go into the main chapel. It shows their willingness to give up world goods and no longer have an interest in money. People in the crowd run to grab the coins as it is considered good luck for them.
