Bangkok has been named the world’s best city by readers of Travel+Leisure magazine for the third year in a row. The magazine announced the winners of the 2012 World’s Best City Awards reader survey earlier this month and then this week Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra travelled to America to receive the award at a ceremony in Manhattan. Bangkok earned 89.87 points in the readers survey, conducted between 1st December 2011 and 31 March 2012. Florence was named the world’s second best city with a score of 89.14, followed by Istanbul, Cape Town, Sydney, Rome, New York City, Hong Kong, Kyoto and Paris. Peninsular Bangkok was also named as Asia’s top city hotel in the same survey. Thai airways International ranked ninth in the Top International Airlines Category.
