When does the first steam train leave Bangkok in 2017, I guess it will be Saturday 25th March, and are there any more steam trains in Thailand between 27th January and 23rd April, and will the Bridge on the River Kwai Festival at the end of November start of December 2017 have the steam locomotives working over the bridge.

Steam train day trips take place on 26th March (anniversary of the opening of the first public railway), 12th August (Queen’s birthday), 23rd October (anniversary of the death of King Chulalongkorn) and 5th December (HM King Bhumibol’s birthday).

    Hi Richard.
Thank you very much for your reply.
Does the 26th March 2018 trip run on that day (Monday) or will it be on the weekend before?
    David.

The one during March is usually moved to the weekend as it’s not a public holiday. I don’t have a date yet.

        Hi Richard.
Do you know how I can arrange a visit to the Makkasan Works to photograph the stored steam locomotives whilst I am in Bangkok at the end of March?
Has there been any news about when the steam train runs as yet?
        Best wishes,
        David.
