Khon Kaen International Marathon is one of Thailand’s many running events becoming increasingly popular on the international circuit. In 2017 the running event will take place on 29 January, and runners from around the world are invited to register and run in a town that is an undiscovered Thai gem.
The event is being organised by the Khon Kaen University Alumni Association and is officially sanctioned by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races and the Athletic Association of Thailand. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and a number of public and private organisations, including the Thai Health Promotion Foundation are supporting the event.
The Khon Kaen International Marathon is open to everyone from professionals to fun runners competing in a range of race and age categories. It will feature a 42.195 km (26 mile) full marathon for participants of 18 years and above; a 21.1 km (13.1 mile) half marathon for participants of 16 years and above; an 11.55 km (7.17 mile) mini marathon for participants of 12 years and above, and a 4.5 km (2.79 mile) fun run which is open to everyone.
The race is one of the most important annual events in Khon Kaen. All race divisions start and finish at by the Golden Jubilee Convention Hall at Khon Kaen University. The marathon route features a scenic, loop course that travels through the university and past some of Khon Kaen town’s unique cultural attractions.
Registration is possible up to two days before to the race, online or by visiting the Golden Jubilee Convention Hall, Khon Kaen University, on 27 and 28 January, 2017, from 10.00-19.00 Hrs.
