Lantern Festival in Samut Prakan from 27 January to 19 February 2017

January 24, 2017

During the Chinese New Year there is a Lantern Festival at Katanyu Foundation in Samut Prakan (click here for map). There are over 5,000 colourful lanterns that have been imported from Taiwan. Some are just plain lanterns but others are shaped as humans, gods and various animals. This large Chinese temple is near Ancient Siam on Sukhumwit Road. They turn the lights on at about 6pm. This is the best time to go just after sunset when the sky is dark blue. The festival this year runs from 27th January to 19th February 2017. Every year it starts the day before Chinese New Year.
