The Jet Ski World Cup 2017 will be held on Jomtien Beach in Pattaya from 7-10 January. The event is to promote Thailand towards being a world recognized venue for global sporting tournaments. The country has previously held a range of smaller Jet Ski events with participants from no more than three countries but was noted for the fairness of its judges and so was chosen to host the upcoming World Cup. The Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand Sakol Wannapong remarked that sports events have become a significant driver of the Thai economy with Jet Skis also playing a key role. He went on to say that the sports authority is linking development of sports into the 20 Year National Strategy and will use Jet Skiing as a pilot sporting event.
