The northeastern province of Roi Et is set to hold its first art exhibition featuring creations made from rice straw in a bid to promote the province among residents and tourists as well as boosting the sale of Hom Mali rice. They are also hoping to create a new landmark along Highway 202 in Roi Et in accordance with the government’s “Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018” and the province’s development plan. The highlight is a five meter high replica of King Kong. Inspiration for this initiative was a website for Japan’s Niigata Province, which has been designed to promote a rice straw art exhibition in that country. Roi Et’s first rice straw art and Thung Kula Ronghai rice exhibition will be officially opened on 11th January 11 2018 in front of the sub-district office at Tambon Non Sawan, Pathum Rat district in Roi Et.
