To help people that are out partying on New Year’s Eve, both the MRT Subway and BTS Skytrain will be extending their service hours. They will now be open from 6 a.m. on 31st December 2011 until 2 a.m. on 1st January 2012. In related news, free rides on the sky train between BTS On Nut and BTS Bearing will be extended until April 2012.

The BAAC, Ministry of Culture, Royal Photographic Society of Thailand and Tourism Authority of Thailand are hosting a photography exhibition to reflect on the empathy shown towards flood victims. The exhibition features photographs from amateur and professional photographers. The event is being held at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center (opposite MBK) from now until 30 December 2011. The 24th Flower Festival is taking place this month at Suan Luang Rama IX Park. This is one of my favourite parks on the outskirts of Bangkok. Thailand and Korea have had a good relationship for a long time. In order to celebrate this, there will be a Friendship Festival in front of Central World in Bangkok from 23rd to 25th December 2011. There will be cultural performances as well as a sale of souvenirs. Money from this event will be donated to victims of the flood.
Bank of Thailand exhibition “Patra Maharaj Thai Banknotes”, organised for the King’s 84th birthday until January 13, showcases the Kingdom’s history and development of paper currency. The next concert in the park is Sunday 15th January.
