According to a poll conducted by the Research Center of Bangkok University, the most popular place for people to play Songkran is Khao San road in Bangkok (34.6%). This is followed by Chiang Mai (22.5%), Silom Road in Bangkok (15.7%) and Pattaya (12.9%). Source: Pattaya Daily News

The National Blood Center of the Thai Red Cross Society has called for blood donations in order to fill in the depleting blood reserves necessary for use during the upcoming long holidays of Songkran. The Thai Ministry of Public Health has asked all hospitals nationwide to stay alert around the clock to deal with emergency cases during Songkran Festival, which is likely to begin as early as 11 April 2011 and last until 17 April. Revelers have been advised to refrain from using high-pressure water guns in splashing water to others during the upcoming Songkran Festival while entrepreneurs are cautioned not to import dangerous water guns for sale.
